VMware Toolsをインストール

VMWareToolsの説明を読んでいると、あんまり必要なさそうなイメージを受けますが、アレを入れることによって、使うことの出来るvmxnetはvlanceに比べて、倍以上のパフォーマンスが出るみたいですね。

ってことらしいので、インストールすることに。


CentOS 5.1をインストール完了後、rootでログイン。で、VMware Fusionのメニューの[仮想マシン]の[VMware Toolsのインストール]をクリック。するとVM上ではCD-ROMが挿入されたことになるらしく、CentOS上のデスクトップのComputerのCDROMドライブを開くと、rpmとtar.gzが見つかった。

おもむろにrpmを実行。インストールが終了しても特に何も変わらない。VMをシャットダウンして、VMware自身を起動し直しても気の利いたことを言わない。もう一回、マウントされているcdromを開いて、今度はtar.gzの方をやってみる。とりあえず/tmpにコピーして、後はターミナル。

$ tar xfv VMwareTools-7.6.3-87978.tar.gz 
$ cd vmware-tools-distrib/
$ ./vmware-install.pl

実行したら色々聞かれるけど基本デフォルトで。画面の大きさだけは小さめを選んでおいた。

X is running fine with the new config file.
